Avraham's Tent

from $50.00

In Judaism hospitality is one of our commandments from G-d- it’s called hachnasas orchim.

The first time hospitality is displayed in the Torah is when Abraham invites three wanderers from Mamre to relax while he brings them water and food (Gen. 18:1-5)

.Abraham is known throughout his life as a baal chessed- a man of kindness. His tent was open on all sides to allow guests east entry. He prayed for the people around him-even if they weren’t righteous. He spread Judaism to his contemporaries in a loving way until he had a massive following.

His wife Sara was the perfect partner. She taught the women while her husband taught the men, she would bake and help prepare the meals she and her husband offered free of charge to any travellers. She added spirituality and purity into her tent to the point where the Divine Presence rested above her home.

This painting was created to help remind its viewers of these values of hospitality and spirituality.
